YAY! For that time of year where we start setting our goals for the new year and reflect on the past year. I have been thinking about my goals and dreams for the past month or so but I have not actually written them down or set them in stone.
Last year, around this time I also wrote a blog post on the previous year and the goals I would like to set out. You can read my 2018 goals here.
I found myself looking at my Twitter feed this morning and stumbled upon this incredibly inspiring blog post from The Vibrant Dreamer. The inspo hit me and I just had to sit down and get my goals written down and put into action. A huge heartfelt hank you, to Jackie from The Vibrant Dreamer for getting the wheels turning.
This goal, is one of my biggest goals for 2019. To be consistent throughout my blog. This includes posting regularly on social media as well as creating as much content as possible. Going forward for 2019, I would like to post at least once a week for the first three months of the year. From April 2019 I want to post at least twice a week. I have been on a blogging mission of late, as I have had so much inspiration all round me. As a result of that, I have written many pieces lately and I am absolutely brimming withe excitement to share this content with you.
At the moment, I only get about +-30 organic hits on my blog posts. BUT my ultimate goal is to reach 500 hits in my first three months of the year. By the end of the year I am aiming to have an average of 5k views on my blog posts. This is an extremely ambitious goal BUT, I know with lots of hard-work and dedication, I will be able to make it happen.
Social Media is also on my blogging goal list. I started my blog off on the Facebook platform and it is so super easy to use to get your name out there but it has been one of the slowest ways of growing my audience although I generate most of my website traffic from Facebook.
Below are my goals for each social media account that I have:
- Facebook: 500 followers
- Twitter: 1000 followers (Twitter, is my new found friend. I have had Twitter for years but never really used it. Now I have discovered the joys of it and have been able to connect with some incredible bloggers.)
- Instagram: 500 followers (this is the platform I struggle with the most, but slowly, I am getting there)
- Pinterest: 500 followers (I have not made use of Pinterest as yet but I have heard that it is one of the best platforms for driving traffic to blogs/websites.)
2018 has been a rough year, it has not all been bad, I have had some incredible moments this year and I am extremely proud of how far I have come. I am in awe of how much I have grown since the beginning of the year and I know it is going to put me in great stead for not only my personal life but for my career too.
This year, I am setting quite a number of goals but it will only help me in the long run.
My top 3 goals are:
Stop procrastinating; boy, oh boy will this be a toughie…I am one of the biggest procrastinators you can get BUT I always get the job done. This year, I am going to be even more organised to ensure I do not procrastinate. This includes doing meal preps and keeping up a routine to keep me from procrastinating.
Travel overseas; this is one of my most exciting yet terrifying goals for the year. Shane and I are finally going overseas (to the UK) for a much needed holiday. This is a lifelong dream of mine and his and we are so excited that we will finally be able to travel. We have already purchased our tickets. Now, its time to buckle down and save our money for the trip. We have mapped out our financial goals and our plans in order to achieve it.
Be more active; I am, in general quite an active person but I have been slacking in the exercise department for the past 3 months. In 2018. I achieved my goal of doing 2 swimming events. I enjoyed the races so much so that I will be doing the races again this year. Not only do I want to continue to swim but I would also like to get into my Parkrun’s again as that is also something that I enjoy doing, especially when my friend Tarryn joins me.
Attend more networking events; I have been attending various events lately and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I am always looking to connect with like minded individuals and hope to inspire someone along the way. This year, I want to attend at least 1 event once a month to network and meet new people. This will include Future Female events and other networking events around Cape Town.
Another two very important goals on my list are to; improve my concentration and mental skills but also to become more confident and take chances in my life.
Lastly, I need to buckle down and wear my glasses while I work and read. It will only help me in the long run and protect my eyes.
